Singapore Translators is a Singapore-registered certified translation agency built around one unglamorous obsession: making sure the document you hand over the counter is accepted the first time. Twenty-three years, 500+ human translators, 200+ languages — and a certification format ICA, MOM, IRAS, ACRA and HDB officers recognise on sight.
Most translation problems in Singapore are not translation problems. The words are usually fine. What gets a file sent back is a missing certification statement, a stamp in the wrong place, a date rendered in the source-country format, or a seal that appears on the original but is nowhere to be found in the English version. We built the company around those failure points rather than around word counts.
Singapore Translators began in 2003 as a two-desk operation handling Chinese and Malay civil documents for PR applicants. As Singapore's population and its paperwork grew more international, so did we — into a full certified translation agency in Singapore covering immigration, legal, academic, medical, financial and corporate documentation across more than 200 languages.
Today our office sits in Suntec Tower One, a short walk from the agencies most of our clients are submitting to. That proximity is not a coincidence. When someone needs a hard copy in hand before a 4 p.m. appointment, being ten minutes away matters more than any marketing claim.
We are a private, Singapore-registered language services company. We are not a government body and we do not issue documents. What we do is produce a translation accompanied by a signed certification of accuracy from a qualified translator — the artefact Singapore authorities ask for when an original document is not in English. Where a submission additionally requires notarisation or legalisation, we coordinate that step with a Notary Public and the Singapore Academy of Law on your behalf.
These are the rules that decide what we will and will not do — even when a faster, cheaper route is available.
No machine output is ever certified under our name. Every file is translated by a qualified native-speaker linguist and reviewed by a second. Automated translation cannot carry legal responsibility, and a certification statement is exactly that — a statement of responsibility.
You approve a written figure before any work starts, and that figure is what you pay. No page-count surprises after delivery, no certification fee bolted on at the end, no urgency premium introduced halfway through the job.
Birth certificates, medical reports and court papers are among the most sensitive documents a person owns. Access is limited to the assigned linguist and reviewer, an NDA is available on request, and files are deleted 30 days after delivery unless you ask us to keep them.
Should a submission be rejected because of an error on our side, we re-translate and re-certify at no cost and push it to the front of the queue. Across 23 years this has applied to well under 0.1% of files — but the commitment is unconditional.
Court hearings, embassy slots and pass expiry dates do not move, so neither do we. Standard turnaround is 24–48 hours; same-day is available when a date genuinely cannot slip. If a deadline is at risk, you hear it from us early, not late.
Every job has a named coordinator reachable on WhatsApp during business hours. No ticket numbers, no automated replies, no chatbot standing between you and an answer about your own paperwork.
Our history tracks Singapore's own paperwork history — every new pass type, e-service and submission format changed what an acceptable translation had to look like. The order matters, because each step was built on the last.
See how a job runs todayThe company opens handling Chinese and Malay civil documents — birth certificates, marriage certificates and household registers — for PR applicants filing with what was then the Singapore Immigration & Registration authority.
After tracking which files came back and why, we fix a single certification block: translator name, credential ID, language pair, declaration wording and stamp position. That template is the direct ancestor of the one still in use today.
Law firms and hospitals begin sending work. We add sworn legal translation, medical reporting and academic credential translation as distinct desks, each with its own terminology base and reviewer pool.
No file leaves without a second linguist checking it against the source, plus a formatting pass that verifies names, dates, numbers, seals and signature notes line up with the original page for page.
Court deadlines and embassy appointment slots do not move. A dedicated urgent lane launches for single-document jobs that must be certified and delivered within the working day.
Multinationals need consistency more than speed. We introduce client-specific glossaries, translation memory, NDA-protected handling, monthly invoicing and named account managers for volume accounts.
Half a million certified translations later, the operation spans 200+ languages and 500+ linguists — and the founding measure of success has not changed: accepted the first time, with nothing sent back.
Three gates, in fixed order. A file cannot skip one, and the person who translated it is never the person who signs it off.
Assigned by document type as well as language. A Vietnamese court order and a Vietnamese school transcript go to different linguists, because the terminology, register and formatting conventions are not the same discipline.
Qualified linguistA second qualified linguist reads the translation against the source line by line. Names, transliteration choices, dates, identification numbers, monetary figures and issuing authorities are checked individually — these are what officers actually verify.
Second pair of eyesLayout is matched to the original, every stamp and seal is described as a bracketed note, and the certification block, translator signature and company stamp are applied in the position Singapore authorities expect. Only then is the file released.
ICA-ready releaseFluency is the entry requirement, not the qualification. Every linguist on our roster is a native speaker of the target language, holds a recognised translation credential or an equivalent professional record, and is tested on live document types before taking paid work.
They are then assigned to a specialism. The translator who handles ACRA incorporation papers is not the one who handles a paediatric discharge summary, and neither handles sworn affidavits. Terminology in each field is maintained in a shared glossary, so a client's twelfth document reads exactly like their first.
Plus 194 more — Arabic, Bengali, Dari, Farsi, French, German, Hindi, Japanese, Khmer, Korean, Nepali, Punjabi, Russian, Sinhala, Spanish, Tagalog, Thai, Turkish, Urdu and further specialised pairs quoted on request.
We are a Singapore-registered company bound by the Personal Data Protection Act. Here is what that means in practice, without the legal hedging.
Your file is visible to the assigned translator, the reviewer and the project coordinator. Nobody else on the team can open it.
A mutual non-disclosure agreement can be signed before you send anything — standard practice for law firms and corporate accounts.
Source files and translations are purged 30 days after delivery unless you request extended retention for a repeat submission.
Uploads and downloads run over TLS. Where a client prefers, hard copies can be exchanged in person at our Suntec office instead.
Client documents are never sold, shared with third parties, or used to train any language model. They exist to be translated and returned.
We are registered and operate in Singapore, so PDPA obligations and Singapore law apply to how your data is stored and handled.
Full details are set out in our Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions.
Walk-ins are welcome during business hours. If you are collecting a hard copy or dropping off originals, a quick message beforehand means it will be ready when you arrive.
